Heat 94, Hawks 76

- Great to see Cook is alive

- somebody please give Q Rich cpr

-Better yet, send that oxygen to Spo's brain

-That being said, give Spo props for "change" we may be able to believe in..at least for now

- Having been the most critical of Spo all season, I must admit we didnt just win, there are actually changes in the offense I saw. One particular play, Cook ran baseline, got a screen, came off the curl and as JO popped out sideways, cook had the option to shoot or dish to JO. He picked up a nice assist on a play we hardly see ran. Creativity, the play within the play....things We have been screaming for all season

-Wright getting the starting nod after the break may be best for all parties involves. If Q gets "turned loose" on the second unit, he may be a really good 6th man. His 3pt shot has abandoned him, but Q can score in other ways and as we saw on his blocked dunk attempt, he hasnt lost a whole lot as an athlete.

-Meanwhile, Wright as a starter brings more ball movement.

-Y did it take so long for Arroyo to get his minutes back? Probably not the answer, but was there ever any reason to get demoted behind Chalmers?

- I have said all year this team has scorers, lacks creators, but has scorers. They just need to be put in better position to produce. Wright,Arroyo,Chalmers, and Beasley need to be allowed to run and play freely without the restraints of knowing they will get pulled for turnovers, misses, and not getting out of Dwayne's way. JO needs more touches on the go and in better position, not isolation plays from 15 feet. Q's post game is still not being taken advantage of. All of this would help Wade become more efficient.

-Hawks had 7 offensive rebounds in the first. Why does Magloire never play?

- Are the last 2 wins enough to make you feel good and not jump into instant gratification type deals? More importantly, is it enough for Riley? I hope so.

- Bad game or not, Beasley needs to be a more important piece of this puzzle. There is seemingly no connect with he and Wade on offense. Thats coaching and the lack of plays designed for them both to touch the ball. Dont think I have seen a player get as little feeds off the pick and roll as Beasley.

- A win much like last night. No super games from anybody, but lots of help from everybody. JO can help this team on offense, if it runs a real offense

- Cook was 3 of 5 from three point range. In your F*cking face Josh...

  2. Thanks for the Post game Kbboy.

Cook loves this time of the year. Watch him dominate the 3 pt competition and then suck again for the rest of the year lol.

And boy did I call it with JO on my last blog. When you have JO going against the Hawks, you guys seem to win. The Hawks could handle Wade. they can't handle Wade AND JO, that just makes the game easier for the roleplayers to step up. Tonight it was Cook.

Overall, no complaints since a wins a win. Don't really want to discuss the Spo/Beasley situation. You know my thoughts on it.

Lol I actually hope it's just a reverse of last year. Last season, he was great before the break, then disappeared after. Hopefully this year, it's the opposite.

  6. This winning streak should bring some stability and good vibes through the organization especially with the all star break coming up. Should help considering Riley was about to make an impetuous move.

  7. Beasley had a bad shooting night, but his stat line isnt really bad for 22 minutes, 7pts 8rbds 2ast 2 stl 1to and 1bs.....not too shabby

  8. Great interior defense tonight

  9. Better analysis than Ira kkboy and I really like the no mention of Cap'n Hustle'm....LMAO

Good team win tonight. Cook is back and prime to defend his 3pt crown, Wright is definitely the best SF on the team and JO should get at least 12-15 shots a game as Beasley should be given at least half of his minutes at the position he STARTS at. We always play better whenever Wade doesn't force bad shots and looks to facilitate more...

No qualms other than Beasley's minutes, but will Beasley even be here after All-star weekend... Things that make you go hhmmmmm!!!!!!!

  10. well, its a good win going into the all star break. curious to see the rumors coming out of all star weekend

  11. Good blog, good win...

You made a good point. If beas and wade are supposed to be part of next season's first unit, they should start the chemistry asap

  13. Beasley was actually being doubled tonight. If Spo could just learn to use that more. Great game by everyone. Haslem and Joel, and JO were really handling the inside defense really well. Kudos to those guys.

And JO with a few great games in a row, starting with Chicago.

Definitely. Problem is I feel like Beasley's being left out even more than usual. Hope this isn't a sign.

If you're referring to not trading Beasley for Amare, you wouldn't wanna argue the last two wins. Two blowout wins with Beasley making a big imprint on either probably convinces Riley that we're just better off without him.

  20. No I was saying, I 1in, making changes period, not just about Beasley. I think if we never hit this skid and remained in 5th place, Riley would be content to ride the year out. He really doesnt want to risk any cap space.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Jo wasn't doubled that much, but that's fine, as long as he keeps doing what he's doing.

    ReplyDelete
  22. beasley's mix of talent and contract alone should make him unattainable, but the pressure is on to make a move and no one necessarily wants to look like they have been fleeced by the great pat riley taking on junk. JO has been featured a lot more lately wouldnt u guys say

    ReplyDelete
  23. yeah ali, they doubled some when he was with the 2nd unit. they mixed it up a lil bit when horford came back in to guard him straight up

    ReplyDelete
  24. But I gotta give JO credit he has been making that jump shot very consistently, it's become just about automatic for him the last few games.

    I just hope it continues.

i think one of these guys is gone during the break...beasley has a higher chance of being traded "just because" if we are going after amar'e..
i'd like to keep beasely though.

"Spo's changes" have helped a bit..

allowing the team to run more..something he as always been against except for those 1st 3 games when we acquired marion

Jo getting quicker rest and more touches..JO been begging for touches since last year.

Cook resurrecting himself...been in a slump for almost 365 days.

  31. "Dwyane Wade needs something to drive him. Wade made himself an elite player by finding ways to motivate himself (as Michael Jordan did) and by repeatedly adding elements to his game. This year, without the doubters who dogged him before last season and without the carrot of a possible championship run, his play has been less efficient and more uneven, particularly against non-marquee opponents. (The last two nights were encouraging, with the high assist totals.) His frustration is understandable, but it will be nice to see a truly motivated Wade again next season… provided he’s still playing for the Heat, of course."

I've been saying this for the longest

    ReplyDelete
  32. But Beasley was frustrated with how he was physically defended by Josh Smith at the rim. Beasley claimed that Horford and Smith had gotten away with hacks all night. Part of Beasley's angst was a result of his 2-of-7 start from the field. So after a series of missed put-back attempts at the rim, Beasley lashed out "He's been doing that all game" before he added something that rhymed with "duck Lou."

    So instead of:
    Arroyo / Alston
    Wade / Cook
    Wright / Richardson
    Beasley / Haslem
    O'Neal / Anthony

He thinks our current depth chart works better...

Umm, what makes us think that the best 5 players won't have better chemistry than the current 5?

  49. Two league sources said Wednesday that the Heat's interest is neither as imminent nor as desperate as recent reports have suggested.

The Heat's priority remains to reserve as much salary-cap space as possible to re-sign Wade and bring in at least one other top-tier free agent from a class expected to include LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Joe Johnson.

With the Suns apparently reluctant to take Jermaine O'Neal's $23 million expiring contract and the Heat still hesitant to include Beasley in any deal, Phoenix and Miami could seek a third team to help broker a deal. Memphis, Portland, Houston and Philadelphia are likely targets should negotiations expand.

  51. Riley doesn't want Stoudamire. He wants Bosh. Bosh wants out of Canada and wants to win. He can do that next to Wade. It just makes too much sense. My prediction is if the Heat can't get Bosh by the trade deadline they wait it out until the offseason. Then the following will happen:

-Heat will sign Bosh and resign Wade.

-Beasley will be traded for either a starting PG or starting SF. The Heat will either take the guy back with available cap space or combine Beasley, James Jones, and necessary cap space. Think Kirk Hinrich, Tayshaun Prince, Caron Butler, or Iguodala.

-The Heat will then split the remaining cap space between Haslem and either Wright or Richardson.

-Joel Anthony will be the starting C next year. You can expect to see a lot of a Haslem and Bosh front court.

    Hinrich/Chalmers
    Wade/Cook
    Wright/draft pick
    Bosh/Haslem
    Anthony/Bosh

-The remaining pieces of the roster will be filled out with vet min guys like Quinn, Diawra, Arroyo, Magloire, and the two first round picks.

-Spo will resign to spend more time with his wife who he met as a penpal while she was serving time in a Dade County Correctional Facility. Her release date just happens to be right around the 2011 Allstar break.

    ReplyDelete
  52. It's also possible the Heat trade Beasley for another guy on his rookie contract.

That would probably be a best case scenario. You get another guy who is young and comes cheap.

    ReplyDelete
  53. i-lose has to be the most dellusional person on any blog next to williams, but he is gaining on williams real fast.

"Sadly, that \marginal vet on an expiring contract\, bka Haslem (because let’s face it, that’s really who you’re referring to) is the only reason the Heat aren’t 16-38 right now. His clutch performances have been the difference when Beasley is having an off shooting night and thus can’t find no other way to contribute.

If it weren’t for Haslem’s clutch 4th quarter performances, we’d REALLY be worried about Wade leaving due to our garbage record and an underachieving 2nd pick in the draft."

CLutch performances? 16-38? man this guy has to be affliated with Spo or Ira or both

    ReplyDelete
  54. At this point, what can you believe?

All we know is people (fans, players, etc) are demanding change and that'll probably be inevitable.

    ****yawn****

Just another poor sap in denial. And you call yourself a Heat fan? What a joke. Everyone knows, from Sports Channels to Dwyane Wade to the Beasley Homers, that Haslem has performed in the 4th and helped us pull out wins when the game was on the line in the 4th.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Another possibility is trading Beasley for Bosh in a sign and trade. Heat will have approximately $22-25 mil in cap space next offseason depending on the the cap. If they get Bosh in a sign and trade for Beasley, Bosh will count $17 mil against the remaining space, but the Heat would clear an additional $5 mil by sending Beasley.

That would leave approx $10-13 mil to fill out the rest of the roster. With that cap space the Heat could take back Hinrich, Prince, Iguodala, Butler, etc, out right. Or they could offer someone like Rudy Gay a deal in the $12-13 mil range.

The more I think about it the more it makes sense to me to wait until free agency. Yes, Riley could build a much deeper team by trades, but he can build a team with more talent at top by waiting for free agency. Remember, guys on mid level money deals like Kendrick Perkins, Bruce Bowen, Derek Fisher, Trevor Ariza, and James Posey have all played major roles in the playoffs for championship teams. Guys on mid level money type deals like Pietris, Gortat, Delonte West, Roger Mason, JR Smith, Ron Artest, and Daniel Gibson all play major roles this year for contending teams.

You get Wade, Bosh, and Gay and the rest of the pieces are interchangable throughout the prime of the "Big 3".

    ReplyDelete
  57. FMB, wanna make a bet?

Name me 3 games that Beasley has played in the 4th while the game was on the line and the Heat have won.

You've got 132 games at your disposal.

Or would you prefer to waive the white flag already and skip to your immature insults of defeat?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Haslem's role is overstated. Wade is 90% of the reason the Heat are hovering around 500%. Last year, we had nearly the identical record with Marion, Chalmers, Haslem, and Anthony starting the majority of games. This year, we have JO, Beasley, Richardson, and Chalmers/Alston/Arroyo starting and the record is nearly identical.

    ReplyDelete
  59. FMB, unfortunately Beasley doesn't appear to be in the Heat's long term plans. They haven't shown any commitment to him. Bosh makes too much sense. Same agent as Wade, capable of putting up 20/12 games every night, and he can play C for 20 minutes a night leaving Haslem 25-30 minutes at PF.

I think the Heat have mishandled Beasley, but I don't think the organization thinks they have mishandled him. I think the organization doesn't feel he is a talent worth developing. Going on history, the organization has a horrible record of developing talent with in. They've only developed one guy they drafted into an Allstar and that's Wade... and they developed him as much as the Cavs developed Lebron or the Hornets developed CP3.

  60. i-lose,

Two games standout....Orl game with his dunk putback and triple ot win vs utah. then there's the ot thriller vs Chicago. Some of the Heats most memorable wins the last 2 seasons include Beasley FINISHING.

    ReplyDelete
  61. This past two seasons have been Riley’s WORST work. From hiring Spo to drafting Beasley(when he knew he wouldn’t get a fair shake) to keeping Haslem to just muddle the whole situation.

Riley waffle on Haslem(should’ve traded him immediately for a PG) and on his refusal to get a PG to challenge/replace Chalmers sooner when more suitable guys were available.

I would still trade Haslem for Augustin......young, cheap PG sort of like Moe Williams.

  63. It is not a case of Beasley versus Stoudemire. It's actually Beasley and Hinrich versus Stoudemire.

Any trade involving Beasley for Amare would most likely need to include Richardson or Haslem, two valuable expiring contracts that could return two long-term pieces.

As you've pointed out countless times, when given significant minutes, Beasley's numbers are comparable to Amare's.

So, my position is that we rebuild now WITH Beasley (playing the role of Stoudemire). Surround Wade and Beasley with Brendan Haywood and Caron Butler (JO), Kirk Hinrich (Richardson) and Steve Blake (Banks’ exception) with the 15 and 16 picks in the first round to improve on the team’s depth.

    ReplyDelete
  64. You can't overlook Beasley's lack of minutes when it comes to his lack of contribution. If you play any guy for 24 minutes you're not going to get the same production you get if he is playing 36 minutes. If a guy is on the bench you can't expect him to produce.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think we have all agreed that Riley doesn't see Beasley as a longterm asset.....unfortunately Riley has been dead wrong on just about everything else these past 2 seasons so why should this be any diff?

    ReplyDelete
  66. There is just too much benefit in rebuilding around Wade and Beasley now as opposed to this summer.

    1) we can go over the cap
    2) we can use Banks' trade exception
    3) We can use the MLE in the summer
    4) we can go after positions of need (PG, SF, C) instead of clogging up the PF spot again

    ReplyDelete
  67. "Riley has been dead wrong on just about everything"

Riley does no wrong in my eyes. He and Zo are Jesus and the Virgin Mary to me.

    ReplyDelete
  68. eddie,

watch the da vinci code, mary was no virgin.

    ReplyDelete
  69. eddie,

I do agree that building the team now around Wade and Beasley is better than waiting, IMHO. I think going and getting Iggy and Butler(haywood or Dalembert or both) is better than one Bosh or Amare.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I am of the feeling that Beasley isn't going to get what he needs to be an all-star here. That said, he doesn't seem to have a lot of trade value, so why trade him?

He's worth more than you can get for him. If nothing else, he creates his own offense, he is an excellent passer for a big man, he can get you 16ppg in 25 minutes at PF and he's really not a liability at the other end of the court. Does Amare give you any more than that on this team?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Eddie, they want Bosh. Beasley's on the roster and he's been tossed to the wayside. Bosh and Wade have the same agent, so you know they have a pretty good idea of what the other guy is going to do.

Another scenario similiar to what I mentioned above.....

    -Resign Wade
    -Sign Bosh
-Heat will have $8-10 mil in cap space left
-Acquire Rudy Gay for Beasley via sign and trade (Beasley, plus $8 mil in cap space = $13.5 mil deal for Gay)
-Heat will then split the remaining $2-3 mil among Haslem and Wright

I've done a complete 180. At this point, I think there's far too much flexibility to settle for trades for guys like Haywood, Butler, Hinrich, and Iguodala. You can get these guys next year and add a max free agent to them.

  73. Bosh having the same agent as Wade puts me at ease. Is it illegal for them to discuss it... I don't know. But, you're telling me that they set up these contracts so they would atleast have the option of playing together and they're not going to discuss it?

Bosh will be stuck full time at C in Toronto. He goes under the radar, where if he was paired next to D Wade he's looking at starting at PF for the East Allstar team for the next 6-8 years and being on a championship contender. Bosh is a team first guy who has a good reputation throughout the league. He's coming to Miami.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Thoughts for the future:

    Wade should be the point-guard.
SG (Richardson might be good enough, but Hinrich would be better) and SF (Wrigth might do in a pinch, but Butler would fit better) should have length, defend, be able to hit open 3s and be able to drive and kick.
    Beasley is our PF.
Center needs to be able to rebound and block shots, needs length...also needs to be a good finisher (O'Neal is good enough, Haywood would be better)

  76. "I do agree that building the team now around Wade and Beasley is better than waiting, IMHO. I think going and getting Iggy and Butler(haywood or Dalembert or both) is better than one Bosh or Amare."

It's not going to be one Bosh... it's going to be Bosh, plus whoever they can get for Beasley plus $8-10 mil in cap space. Depending on the cap, that's either one guy in the $13-15 mil range or two guys in the $7-8 mil range.

Whether or not we think he's a good player, the organization has a huge amount of faith in Haslem. He's going to be the first big off the bench and Bosh will play 20-25 mintues at C. I wouldn't be shocked if the first year PF and C rotation was:

    Anthony (22 min at C)
    Bosh (20min @ PF, 16min @ C)
    Haslem (32min @ PF)
Someone like Chris Richard (8-10 minutes)

    ReplyDelete
  77. Do you guys think Bosh will run from Tor? They are rolling right now, say they keep it up. They can offer him more money and a coaching staff he is comfortable with on a team he doesn't have to look over his shoulder for Haslem to steal his mpg. I don't know if Bosh WANTS to play C, in Tor Bargnani can get dunked on at C, while Bosh can abuse PF's.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I think Bosh will bolt if a better opportunity presents itself. From all acounts, he's been very cooperative with the front office. A sign and trade would allow a deal where Bosh gets a max contract and Toronto gets something in return (Beasley, picks).

The Raptors are never going to be a legit contender with Bosh, Bargnani, and Hedo on the roster. The organization might not care, but I think Bosh wants to be thought of among the leagues elite. Coming to Miami to play next to Wade will do that.

I haven't watched the Raps a lot this year, but I have a feeling Bosh is guarding more of the PFs/Cs with a low post presence. I don't see him having a problem coming here and playing 20-25 minutes at PF, 15 minutes at C, and averaging 35 minutes per game. That would give Haslem roughly 25 minutes per game at PF. As I said before, regardless of what we think of him the Heat seem to think Haslem is a valuable piece.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Look, worse case scenario if the Heat add Bosh and is they decide to split Beasley and the cap space ($13-15 mil total) among two guys like Hinrich ($9 mil) and Haywood or Camby ($5 mil).

What team do you think is better?

    Hinrich
    Wade
    Iguodala/Butler
    Beasley
    Dalembert/Haywood

    vs.

    Hinrich
    Wade
    Wright
    Bosh
    Haywood/Camby

Either way, we end up with an equivalent PG and C. The only difference is we upgrade the PF spot to a 20/10 guy who can play C and downgrade the SF spot to a guy who is basically a hustle/garbage man. I like Beasley, but I'd be a lot more excited about team number #2 over the next 5-6 years.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Something else to consider..... team #2 would be built UNDER the CAP, while team #1 would be built by exceeding the cap and therefor Arison would have to pay the luxury tax.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I think team 1 with Butler as a super sub is better.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I see Beasley is on the front page on the ESPN NBA page. And of course it's about trades. Anyone an insider and can post it?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Butler wasn't a supersub. The Heat don't have cap space to acuire both Haywood/Butler or Dalembert/Iggy.

I should have broken it up:

    Team 1
    Hinrich
    Wade
    Butler
    Beasley
    Haywood

    Team 2
    Hinrich
    Wade
    Iggy
    Beasley
    Dalembert

    Team 3
    Hinrich
    Wade
    Wright
    Bosh
    Haywood OR Camby

If you wanted to win over the next 4-5 years I don't see how you can take either team #1 with Butler's decline. I'm not positive regarding team #2 vs. team #3, but I think the chance to add a legit 20/10 PF who can play center and build a team without going into the tax threshhold would be two factories weighing heavily in favor of team #3.

    ReplyDelete
  84. *** Sorry, factors.. not factories. Too much multi-tasking.

    ReplyDelete
  86. IMO, waiting until next year to add a power forward is pointless. By then, Beasley will be a monster. He's getting better every game. I wanted to trade Beasley in the past because of his age and how long it would take him to develop. After all this time, we're going to trade him when he's turning 22 with 3 years under his belt?

I say stop going for the home run. This team is .500 with the limited talent we have now. What could it be with Hinrich, Iguodala and Haywood added to it? It would basically be the last two games every game. Dependable role players around two and 1/2 (Iggy) superstars.

    ReplyDelete
  87. When SF is the deepest position in the NBA, where you constantly see Allstar caliber talent night in and night out....it seems interesting that PF would be such a necesity. We can't even handle Tayshaun Prince for crying out loud.

    "1. Heat-Suns-Bobcats

Miami gets: Amare Stoudemire (from Phoenix), Acie Law (from Charlotte), Stephen Graham (from Charlotte), Ronald Murray (from Charlotte)

Phoenix gets: Michael Beasley (from Miami), D.J. Augustin (from Charlotte), James Jones (from Miami), Dorell Wright (from Miami)

Charlotte gets: Udonis Haslem (from Miami), Daequan Cook (from Miami)

    Would Miami do it?
The word out of Miami is that the Heat have been pushing to make a deal. While Miami is considered a potential destination for LeBron James and Chris Bosh this summer if the two become free agents, the danger with doing nothing now is that Dwyane Wade might walk if the team fails to get James, Bosh or another top player or two.

This trade would set up the Heat to go in a couple of directions:

    (1) It could be a pre-emptive strike on the free-agent market and still provide the salary-cap space to sign another free agent or two in addition to Stoudemire. If Stoudemire were to opt out of his contract and re-sign with the Heat for a contract starting at $13 million to $15 million, the Heat would still be able to sign one max-level player, such as LeBron James, or a couple of players with a starting salary of $8 million to $10 million.

    (2) If Stoudemire were to opt out and leave, the Heat, thanks to this trade, would have enough cap room to sign two max-level free agents, such as James and Bosh.

One dangerous scenario is that Stoudemire could decide not to opt out of his contract, leaving the Heat with more limited resources in the 2010 free-agency market. And of course, they'd be giving up on Beasley, a potent scorer who just turned 21.

    Would Phoenix do it?
The Suns have been shopping Stoudemire but want more than just cap relief -- they want assets. This deal would provide a little of both.

Beasley is an athletic 4 who should be able to put up similar numbers to Amare in the Suns' run-and-gun system, or perhaps even better numbers, given the rebounding prowess he showed in college. The Suns would also get Augustin, a young point guard they could groom to take over for Nash eventually. Jones should be able to step right back into the system he left in 2007, and if he doesn't work out, his 2010-11 contract is only partially guaranteed. Wright has upside, and his contract is expiring, giving the Suns options with him, as well.

While I believe the Suns would prefer to add Andre Iguodala and Samuel Dalembert, this might be a better, more affordable deal for them in the long run.

Would Charlotte do it? Augustin has had a disappointing season and fallen out of favor with Charlotte coach Larry Brown. And the Bobcats have been active on the trade market, looking for a power forward who can rebound and defend; Haslem would fit the bill and he's in the last year of his contract. While Cook hasn't become the player the Heat hoped he would, he could see some minutes at the 2 for the Bobcats."

  93. Riley is or isn't doing his "DUE DILIGENCE" per say, depending on which way you look at it. I think he really believes he has a shot at landing Lebron, Bosh or J. Johnson. If I know Riley like I think I do, he's not doing nothing to shy away from his original plan. He doesn't really want Amare, if Beasley is the price to pay. Especially if he can go after him in the summer. Riley's just going thru the motions to show Wade, Hey I'm trying to get something done, hence the decline of comment until after the trade deadline. Riley's to deeply entrusted into the fool's gold summer of 2010 to back track on his plan and hit the panic button now. Although it may possibly cost him losing Wade, he's gonna keep Beasley because he's his insurance policy just in case Wade does leave and I would be surprised if he does.

Maybe I'm reading to much into it but in Beasley's comment pertaining to the Amare trade he said "If traded, he'll miss SOME of his teammates..." Something tells me Beasley and SOME of his teammates aren't on the same page like Wade says he and Spo are. JO was onto something with his comments after Monday's practice about the possible issues holding the team back, as opposed to Wade back tracking everything he meant to say after the Bulls game or everything being misconstrued. Even last night on NBATV E. Snow chuckled at Wade supposedly burying the hatchet with Spo and said "He wouldn't said it, if he didn't mean it." And that's coming from a guy who played with a Diva...LOL or superstar SG remember Allen Iverson and Larry Brown had many spats, I'm just saying... Something stinks in Miami and I can smell it 1200+ miles away in Philly....

You have to remember this is an organization who wouldn't pay James Posey a MLE type deal and wouldn't pay Moon $4 mil for one year. There's no way they'd keep Haywood at $6 mil off the bench and Butler at nearly $10 mil off the bench.

Eddie, have you witnessed the past few games or the majority of games this season. It's obvious Spoelstra and the rest of the Heat organization don't feel Beasley has gotten that much better or else Haslem wouldn't be playing over him. Beasley has been treated worse than one year rentals Jermaine O'Neal and Richardson. The Heat have said all the right things about Beasley, but Heat culture is two-faced. Actions speak louder than words and there has been no actions by anyone within the organization that suggests to me they believe in Beasley long term.

If no deals are done by the deadline it means Bosh is coming here. The worst case scenario is going to be something like....

    Hinrich
    Wade
    Wright
    Bosh
    Haywood or Camby

Bench: Haslem, Cook, Chalmers, 1st round pick, and guys like Anthony, Quinn, and Alston

    ReplyDelete
  103. If Wade really wants to help the team long term he needs to move back to pg

    ReplyDelete
  104. It really doesn't matter what any of us think of Beasley, what matters is what the Heat organization feel about him. They say the right things, but look at their actions...

    -tried to trade pick
-worked out Mayo and Bayless when Beasley was clearly one of the top #2 guys in the draft talent wise
-Benched him 15 games into his rookie season so they could start Udonis Haslem and Joel Anthony
-Benched him after Haslem returned from injury despite a 6 game stretch where Beasley put up 25ppg, 12rpg
-Continue to yank him in the 4th
-Continue to give him inconsistent minutes despite the fact that when he plays 30 minutes or more the Heat have a 25-13 record (65% winning percentage) and Beasley puts up 21ppg, 8.5rpg on 50% shooting in the games he plays 30 minutes or more.
-Explain his lack of minutes and mental errors to anything from asthma to his sugar intake
-Have tanked two seasons clearing cap space for 2010 when 3 out of the 6 biggest names in free agency are PF (Bosh, Stoudamire, Boozer) and the other two are Lebron James and D Wade.

Doesn't seem like the organization is behind the guy.

  105. If bosh comes here it's to play c next to beasley why would he sign here an trade away the second best player on the team I doubt bosh would demand a sign an trade just so he could get more money if so give the money to gay

  106. Jb that's y I say beasley was drafted to say riley knew all those pf were going to be availible he could have taken lopez an planned ahead but he didn't that's why I say Riley has his eyes on someone we don't know about

    ReplyDelete
  107. "The more I think about it the more it makes sense to me to wait until free agency. Yes, Riley could build a much deeper team by trades, but he can build a team with more talent at the top by waiting for free agency."

Yup. We're too far in to turn back now. If we were going to do the balls-to-the-wall, win-now thing, we should have done it last year, chopping and selling off all of our long term assets (Beasley, expiring contracts, etc.) We chose to wait for 2010, which, IMO, was the better choice. This way, we've got a couple bets out on the table. Bet #1 is that Beasley becomes a superstar, championship-quality #2 option. If that happens, who we sign in free agency doesn't even matter. Just by holding on to Wade and Beasley, we'll have a shot. Bet #2 is that LeBron, Joe Johnson, or Chris Bosh will sign here in 2010. If that happens, we're looking at a potential championship team whether or not Beasley turns out as well as we hope. If he does, we're loaded and could push for a dynasty. If he doesn't, we've got still a championship duo and could potentially move Beasley -- or he could be a quality third option.

When you combine those two gambles, I think the odds of at least one of them shaking out are far greater than the odds of winning a championship via "win-now" trades for longer-term contracts.

Plus, holding on to Beasley ensures that you have something to build with in 5-6 years when Wade is not the same player anymore. Otherwise, in 5 years, we're just going to have to go through this whole rebuilding process again.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Agent D, I don't think Bosh really cares either way if Beasley is here. With the way the Heat have handled Beasley I doubt he's even part of the sales pitch. If Bosh comes here Beasley is gone as part of a deal that brings in a PG and SF.

    ReplyDelete
  111. If you bring in hinrich for haslem or even Augustine that leaves sf left beasley isn't gonna be traded just because we sign bosh

    ReplyDelete
  112. Haslem should have been traded the minute Beasley was drafted. He's a 15-minute per game player making $7 million this season. For a team with an utter lack of talent at PF, he can start and be worth his salary. For us, he's overpaid and wielding unreasonable organizational loyalty that is hurting the current and future prospects of this team.

Trading him for DJ Augustin would be a great deal for both teams.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Beasley might be traded if we sign Bosh. Personally, I'd give it until the all-star break of next season to see if they can mesh. If not, I'd trade Beasley for the best PG, SF, or C we could get.

But regardless, once Bosh is under contract, it's not an issue anymore. We can do a lot of things with Beasley, or we can do nothing with him, and we'd still be a very good team. If we sign Bosh, what happens with Beasley is peripheral. The problem is making moves ahead of time, assuming we get Bosh. I just don't have this blind faith that Bosh is going to pick us out of every other team with cap space. And that's if he even hits the free agent market. If Toronto feels he's out the door at the end of the season, he's going to get traded to a Western Conference team before the deadline.

That's interesting. But first of all RealGM posters are generally retarded. And second of all, on paper to an outsiders point of view, its totally reasonable to think that. Amare is a multiple time all star while Beasley has not really established himself to that level in pro basketball yet. Amare therefore has much higher public recognition and more heralded.
