AFTER THE DUST SETTLES......

Now that the trade deadline has come and gone, the focus turns away from the here and now, to the "soon to be". What that means is  with Riley standing pat, Beasley seemingly apart of the future, at least for now, we can examine what the transformation of this team could be like. In the upcoming days I am pretty sure we will have many discussions on what we need/ want added to this team. I will be writing my ideas on a blog soon to come and I hope others will do the same. In the words of Dwade "Its nice to dream". All that being said, props goes out to my  boy JGtruth on this one. Heres a look at the offseason menu( I think this is extremely helpful as it basically has a players worth in monetary value) that should get some of the blog gm juices flowing. I would just like you all to keep in mind what I said. Having ample cap space does not mean we will be adressing every need thru free agency. Cap space actually gives us more leverage to trade. What that means is when you look at this list, dont spend all your money in one place. ENJOY!!!

Hello is anybody home!!!! I guess the blog should be jumping during gametime tomorrow against the Minny T'Wolves....

  3. This is the gametime blog. The other blog is the hype one. We're like the bar that everyone comes to watch the game and talk about with all the cool people. The other blog is the lunch room at work where all the casual guys who don't know much about the sport go to.

  4. But seriously, this place is more for the chat than the blog. Great posts by Kbboy and all the other contributors as usual.

  6. Agreed Chris....LMAO!!!!!

I've been on Ira's blog and notice pretty much nothing b-ball related being discussed so I haven't posted in a while and probably because there isn't much to talk about Heat-wise anyways.

Nice work kbboy, I'll sit down a little later and put on my Riley GM thinking cap and put together a decent dynasty team with some of the players you've listed...
BTW, Is Druggie and I-Win the same person?

  8. well, i anxiously await gamedays so that i can converse on the chat, but on non-gamedays it can be as empty as the AAA the day after a jon secada concert

  9. I think I've looked at the commentary on Ira's blog twice since our little exodus. Too much nonsense. Granted, I use to occasionally contribute my fair share of unnecessary remarks as well, but I prefer a less crazy place. Hell, before kb came up with this, I'd checked out a couple other of moderated Heat boards, because the other stuff was wearing thin.

All that said, I'm not anxious to give up the gametime chat. It's like going from wine coolers to the good alcohol. No turning back.

Good point. It really is a circus over there...

  11. is bosh at center and beasley at power forward really gonna be tough enough moving forward?

  12. In the post-trade deadline fallout, I started doing my wannabe GM thing as well. We all know the target is a max guy who we could get away with playing at the 5(Bosh, Stoudamire, in that order). Assuming we score there, taking into account Chalmers' and Anthony's options, draft picks, the partial guarantee after waiving, and leftover cap holds, there's upward of 8-9M left (53M cap). From there, I'm looking PG (Steve Blake, Raymond Felton; both should be available for under or around 5M), then other cheap bench guys like Hakim Warrick, Flip Murray and/or a reserve big body like DJ Mbenga.

The only current guy I could see us making a competitive offer to would be Dorell in that 3M range. JO is playing too well to take the minimum scraps we'd have left after addressing other areas, if someone in Ontario or Arizona is changing addresses. Someone will offer him in the neighborhood of a MLE as a starter. Though I don't see Haslem being as coveted, he can likely do better in terms of $$$ and PT elsewhere. This 'apprenticeship' with Beasley should have ended a while ago. It's certainly over come next season.

I wouldn't be able to count on them deep in the playoffs to get me the stops I need.

  14. "is bosh at center and beasley at power forward really gonna be tough enough moving forward?"

Maybe we trade Beas for Kaman, Perkins, or some other center we can pair with Bosh. Might not have to go that far since all you need is someone who blocks shots & rebounds. If you can find a C without trading Beas, look for a good PG or SF we can get with him. In a perfect world, we'd be able to fill all of our spots while keeping Beas, but we have a better chance of getting LeBron AND Bosh...

  16. Chick-Fil-A is catering my wedding.

    ...

Actually, I'll just get a bunch of food from there, one weekend during the playoffs and call it a day. Much less effort that way.

    ReplyDelete
  17. If we don't get Lebron and so go for Bosh as the next star target, i really believe that we trade beasley. shame. problem is i just don't see bosh at C. You don't need a star there anymore, just someone who brings the lunch pail. If Bease were to mature rapidly enough to become bosh, what if we went to fill out the team with higher-quality pieces? Big IF.

Who are the top/legitimate centers now anyways????

  18. oh, and that other blog has just become putrid and infested with swarming crap.

  20. Sorry for the way the blog post came out with the list and all. The names for some odd reason arent as neat an balanced as I had posted them. Whatever.

On the subject of commenting, maybe I should cahnge the ambience, and make the background white.. Make the new commers feel at home like this was Ira's place. That blog over there is a joke tho, nothing but trolling. The main reason for the lack of posting over here really is the chat box. lol. That thing is the devil.

Personally, I prefer the dark background, but I think I'm in the minority, lol.

  22. my biggest curiosity is who we can get with the 8 million or so left over. steve blake and raymond felton have been mentioned and are worthy fill-ins. maybe a trade for a pg would be in the offing this offseason. heck in a DREAM world, with the way collison is playing in new orleans, one could only hope chris paul would be in play for draft picks, james jones and cap space

    ReplyDelete
  23. then again, almost reversing myself mid-stride, there is something to be said for having a pg that knows how to spot up and knock down opn j's, defend the other team's pg, get the ball to the right people at the right time, and be OK with wade dominating the ball down the stretch, much like a mo williams in cle

  24. Don't change anything with this blog. Sure there is less activity, but the first 20 post on Ira's blog where from some guy posting as "druggie" making no sense. Keep this blog free from that... it picks up during games. The chat feature is the coolest thing I have ever seen on the internet.

    ReplyDelete
  25. If Bosh comes Beasley is gone. Riley will turn Beasley plus the cap space into something like Haywood/Camby and Hinrich. I think it will payoff in the next 3-5 years, but after that Beasley will be the best NBA player out of Wade and Bosh who will be something like 33 and 32 years old.

    ReplyDelete
  26. yeah, there are always certain things we say as worth the price of admission, like dwayne wade vs kobe, and in this case, the chat is worth the price of admission.

  32. Yeah I fully expect Yao to get more money than K-Mart.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I doubt Yao will opt out. I can't imagine him getting a max deal coming off of these injuries. But if he does opt out, that'd be very interesting for the Heat. If we miss on LeBron, Bosh, and Joe Johnson, I think Yao would be my next choice -- ahead of Rudy Gay or Amare. We could then spend the left-over $8 million on something like Felton, Amir Johnson, and a sign & trade for Raja Bell. $6 million to Felton, $2 million to Amir Johnson, and Cook + a first round pick in a sign & trade for Raja Bell, at $3.5 million.

    Raymond Felton / Chalmers
Wade / 1st round draft pick
Raja Bell / 1st round draft pick
    Beasley / Amir Johnson
    Yao / Joel Anthony

You can definitely win with that, if Yao stays healthy. Ideally we land LeBron, Bosh, or Johnson and don't have to take that risk, but that's a good emergency scenario if Yao actually does opt out.

That wasnt Kmart's expected salary, thats the range he makes now that he has an option on.

  35. I think Yao has a golden opportunity to get out of Houston... I'm gonna blog about it. I know you guys have probably heard my conspiracy theory before, but for those who haven't heard...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Basically if Yao opts out, he won be getting more than Kmart cause theres no way K mart is opting out of that contract.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yao is an interestiong option, one that I would only go after if the deal includes team option years or some buyout clause. Regardless if you do it, you have to get more of a solid backup for an insurance policy than Joel. I personally dont want Joel to be anything more than the 3rd center on any team we put together, but also I think with Yao, we wont be paying him an absurd amount of money so I think we can afford a good backup and do better than FeltoI (not that I ont like felton) or Bell in the starting lineup. We should have more money left over than that and if we are going to get Bell, I would prefer to go cheaper and start Wright at sf as the designated defender. Bell is also coming off season ending surgery.
