No JO, no problem?

Tonight Miami squares off against the Indiana Pacers without the services of former Pacers franchise player Jermaine O'Neal, who is still experiencing swelling in his knee. A win would give Miami its first ever season series sweep over Indiana, after winning the first three match ups by an average of 24.7 points.

Joel Anthony will get the start and the team actually has a 9-3 record when he is filling in for an injured starter. Miami broke the 14 game losing streak at Indiana earlier this season and will need tonight's win to extend their current 6 game winning streak. Indiana will be trying to protect their 8 game home winning streak. They are playing their best basketball of the year right now too, having won 6 of their last 7 games overall.

Miami should win tonight's game easily if they can hold Indiana under 90 points - Miami has an impressive 24-2 record when it accomplishes that goal. Miami is 4-0 with the tonight's starting lineup. Rest up JO, we can let the little homies ride on the Indiana Pacers.

  1. This game has me worried. The Pacers stunk up the place when we've played them earlier in the season, but they have some decent wins lately and I am afraid that the Heat are going to be overconfident. I hope not, of course. But this team is weird/bizarre that way.

  2. It is nearly impossible to feel overconfident as a Heat fan. They have generally done a good job beating teams under .500, but they always seem to fall down to Earth.

I hope they take each of these last 7 games as must win games. I want them to finish 48-34, if possible. If we get the 6th spot, that could be better, but I don't want them to let the foot off the pedal now.

  3. I would still prefer Atlanta. But it's probably best to not try to tinker with your seeding. I'm glad Wade pulled this one out. Now let's not loose to Minnie.

  4. Ira still calls Beasley's late game heroics against Orlando an "apparent goaltend"... I wouldn't be too surprised if he was one of the trolls on his blog. He is just as ridiculous.

  5. Ira is just a scag. Not even a troll anymore. sickening

  6. So, what is the consensus? Do you/we prefer to play Atlanta or Boston???

  7. I think we prefer Atlanta but many of us are saying win out in the regular season if possible and head into the playoffs playing your best basketball against whomever falls to the 4th spot.

The only way we should lose a game from now until the end of the season is by benching our starters in order to fall to the 6th spot... that could be a good idea. I think we match up better.

  8. If we didn't need to force feed Chalmers minutes, I think Arroyo and Skip was a poor man's J-Will/Payton... could have been clutch for us. We'll have to hope Rio is ten times better than last post season.

  9. Always sticking with Chalmers at back-up has been a completely disastrous mistake. Arroyo-Alston/Alston-Arroyo would have been better. Who gives a shit about Chalmers' ego...?

The plan should just be win out. I get worried when a team tries to be too cute and plays or lose to get a certain match up - though I think we do match up better vs. Atlanta. But let the chips fall where they may. I think that is better than tanking a game outright. but if we could rest some vets . . . Atlanta then Orlando is a nicer road to the ECF.

  10. Beasley has sucked. But he's also done some really great things.

Chalmers... he's pretty much just sucked, not all of the time. So I don't imagine him really improving much. Were stuck with him. But I don't think he magically becomes different than what he is - just a guy.

  11. Shavlik "As long as you don't bring your gayness on me I'm fine" Randolph is back for the rest of the season and will wear #42.

Here's a blog about that quote in case you don't know the backstory... this will forever be his NBA legacy:

I don't think sharing a lockerroom with a homosexual is a big deal as long as they don't bring their gayness upon me either Shav, lol.

Alade Aminu is no longer on the roster, but is expected to be in Heat camp this off-season.

  12. Chris, I take back what I said about Zoe Saldana. The gap between her & Sanaa Lathan isn't as much as I made it out to be, but Sanaa is still more fine.

    And that's that.

  15. I have seen them both in person... they are both sexy, for sure. I think Sanaa wins when she is in great shape. I think Zoe is more in her prime, whereas Sanaa is gonna have to make much more of an effort to compete with the younger girls (Zoe is 7 years younger). Askmen.com has Zoe with an edge of 85-80 in sexiness:

PS - this board is dead... I hope it picks up in the playoffs

  16. this board started out on fire, but i think slowly people have migrated back to ira's blog. the in-game chat is superb when all of the players are here. it may take the playoffs to revive the board

  17. dont have a preference at this point with boston or atlanta, but i am sure boston or atlanta would much prefer to get milwaukee. that much is certain

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yeah Boston and Atlanta are pretty much equal. Atlanta is the better team but Boston has more experience.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think this will be a decent place to come for some sane discussion, esp in-game. Too bad Josh, Sarge, Doc, etc. don't migrate over. It gets so tiresome when stooges like willi-pino and sludge start going off.

AS for Boston or Atlanta. There is no objective measure about which team is better. The question comes again to the match-ups. I think Atlanta is more of a regular season team. Athleticism/running doesn't cut it in the playoffs. Their stupidity will do them in against a team that can play with some discipline. Problem last year was that when things got tough, we didn't have enough experienced talent on the team to carry us through. Still would have won but for Wade's bum back I think. The Celtics may be older, but I think they are also more dangerous in playoff time (more rest, more half-court play, more importance of defense...)

  20. I've been posting a bit less... I live in NY and the weather has been beautiful lately.

    ReplyDelete
  21. BTW, any of you catch the Knicks/Celtics game on Tuesday? Earl Barron single handedly beat the Celtics.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, I noticed NY has been having better weather than LA the last few days... enjoy it.

Earl Barron had a nice jumper when we had him, but so did Mark Blount... neither was coming up big on the boards.

As of right now I still prefer Joel Anthony. He protects the paint really well... I find myself predicting blocks when people foolishly challenge him when he comes in. I think he is going to have an excellent post season because the opposition still thinks he is a scrub, but has definitely emerged as a solid role player of late.

I haven't seen Earl Barron's dominant play of late, but here is a recap I found from that Boston game:

    http://www.ridiculousupside.com/2010/4/7/1409013/earl-barron-is-better-in-the-nba

He's gonna be the Knicks starting center the rest of the way, so we'll see the Barron-Anthony duel on Sunday... something to look forward to I guess.

Also Beasley is getting some recognition on the ESPN NBA page (as one of the top 15 chuckers this season):

Hey remember there's no such thing as bad publicity. Especially for an up and coming guy like Beasley. His play might not be turning heads but at least he's still catching attention.
